Welcome to your bright room on the main street of Southampton, Ontario. King size bed, luxurious linens, soft and comfy chairs make this room a nice retreat from the beach. The sand and swimming are just a 5 minute walk down the street next to our flag. These rooms are like a hotel room with your own entrance off a central hallway. Inside your room it’s all about comfort and brightness for a couple. The bedroom has a king size bed and furnishings by Stanley. If you feel you really need to stay connected to the outside world, free Wifi and Netflix are there to help you. You will have your own bathroom, below counter fridge, room sink and all the amenities by Lord and Mayfair found in the best hotels. Interaction with guests. We’ll be glad to help make you visit enjoyable. However, you will be a phone call away from staff at night. This room is above a rural Ontario retail store. Sadly, there is no elevator. We’ll gladly help with your luggage or your bike but you have to be able to climb 20 steps to get to your room.
Situated in an historic Thomas Fuller Post Office, the museum is a cornucopia of artefacts and information about Arnprior and the surrounding area. Exhibits about the logging industry, the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1860 and the railway makes this a must see for all cyclists. We’re close to restaurants and the beach which makes this an ideal destination. In 2013 we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of Champlain’s travels up the Ottawa River and we are fortunate to have Champlain’s astrolabe on exhibit.
All campgrounds are serviced by drinking water taps, vault toilets and a central comfort station complete with flush toilets and showers. Laundry facilities are included at the comfort stations in Turtle, Hawk and Bear Campgrounds. Private and shaded campsites including pet-free camping and radio-free camping. Several kilometers of park roads are available for cyclists. Bikes are also allowed on the Beach, Bluff and Brule Trails. Since these are multi-use trails, racing is not permitted and cyclists must yield to pedestrians and hikers. Cyclists are encouraged to respect and protect the often sensitive environments that these trails pass through by riding only on the designated trail surface.
This waterfront restaurant is an excellent location to take a break, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the view. Baranga’s on the Beach is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant and offers patio seating. There are bike racks for cyclists to lock up their bikes and are located in an area visible while eating. Open 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The meandering Bonnechere River once carried furs and pine logs out of this Ottawa Valley region. Now canoes move along its leisurely, ever-changing path to Round Lake where there is a buoyed, sandy beach. Trails pass an old beaver pond and marshes. An historic depot depicts the life of early forest rangers.
This is the oldest of all of the Parks of the St. Lawrence. Before the St. Lawrence Seaway came into existence, Brown’s Bay was the only provincial park between Gananoque and the Quebec border. It continues to be a popular stopping point for travellers to enjoy some outdoor recreation en route between Toronto and Montreal. Just 20 kilometres east of Ivy Lea Campground on the Thousand Island Parkway is Brown’s Bay Beach which offers swimming, picnic, playground and boat launch facilities.Brown’s Bay also has six waterfront campsites with an impressive view of Dark Island’s Singer Castle. Charlton Lake Camp is a housekeeping cottage resort set among the towering pines in Northern Ontario’s Rainbow Country just 2km off of HWY 6 between Espanola and Little Current. The cottages are modern one, two and three bedrooms, with large, well-equipped kitchens, modern bathrooms and comfortable living areas. The only Visitor Information Centre located within steps of Highway 17 Trans-Canada Highway on Muskrat lake. The Cobden VIC is located in a park area, with Muskrat Lake view and access to the Main Street of the village of Cobden. This VIC offers picnic areas, beach access, overnight camping, clean bathrooms free WIFI and showers. Camping sites costs $10-$15 and gives you the combination to access the showers. Call Elmer at 613 570-8492. Some sites also offer hydro and water. The VIC is within short walking distance to many of the villages quaint specialty shops and unique dining experiences. This community thrives during peak tourism season as it serves as the gateway to the Whitewater Rafting companies.
