Charlton Lake Camp is a housekeeping cottage resort set among the towering pines in Northern Ontario’s Rainbow Country just 2km off of HWY 6 between Espanola and Little Current. The cottages are modern one, two and three bedrooms, with large, well-equipped kitchens, modern bathrooms and comfortable living areas. Each cottage has a fully screened porch, propane barbecue and docking right in front. All face the waters of Charlton Lake and are steps from the beautiful sandy beach. The camp offers boat, canoe and kayak rentals, as well as a launch ramp and docking for guests who bring their own boat. The camp offers fishing (bass, walleye, pike and pan fish), swimming, boating and hiking. Eco-tourists will love the easy access to Killarney Provincial Park for canoeing, kayaking and hiking. Nestled in the magnificent La Cloche Mountain range, with the multicolored quartzite rock of the Canadian Shield, Charlton Lake Camp provides a haven for guests looking for peace and quiet. The spectacular scenery, whether from the seat of a canoe or atop one of the mountain peaks, is quite simply – breathtaking. A perfect location for artists and photographers, it is immediately obvious why the Group of Seven called this home.

We are Southern Ontario’s Outdoor Adventure Company, offering cycling, paddling & hiking adventures across South Central Ontario since 1997. After successful years as a paddle tour operation, Grand Experiences expanded in 2002 as we began bike rentals, by 2005 guided cycling experiences were offered by trained facilitators. Since then our cycling tours have taken off! We offer cycling adventures in unique areas: The Heart of Ontario, Mennonite Country, The Green Belt, and Ontario’s South Coast. Our tours include riding on the major TransCanada Trail, but our knowledge and experience allows our facilitators to take you down unique local trails & backroads to/from St. Jacobs, Cambridge, Hamilton, Brantford, Paris, and Port Dover! Looking for more? We also offer “Pedal/Paddle Trips” with 1/2 day canoe/kayak & 1/2 day cycling! These have always been popular as they are a great way to experience a new area, or reconnect with a familiar spot. From Self-guided rentals to 2 day all-inclusive packages – we offer it all! Be sure to check out our “Path Less Travelled” which is an Ontario Signature Experience – a title held for Ontario’s top tourism experiences! As many of us have discovered, great adventures are greatly influenced by experiences. Our experienced interpretative cycling guides will lead you to amazing grand experiences. Our tours run from the Niagara Escarpment, the Grand River & its tributaries, & the trails of St. Jacobs Country to Long Point on Lake Erie. 2 world Biospheres, and a Canadian Heritage River!

The Niagara Glen is a unique spot of beauty deep in the Great Gorge that has been a designated Nature Reserve since 1992. Stairways lead to 4 km (2.5 mi) of paths that wind through a pristine pocket of Carolinian Forest, past boulders left behind as the Falls eroded through the area thousands of years ago. Visitors should be aware that hikes through the Niagara Glen involve an elevation change of over 60 m (200 ft). Proper footwear suitable for steep and rugged terrain is required. The trails are well laid out and easily negotiated if you take your time! There’s lots of interesting geology and biology to explore. The Niagara Glen Nature Centre overlooks the Niagara River Whirlpool, a unique natural phenomenon that you must see to believe! Thousands of years ago, as the Niagara River slowly eroded its way through the Niagara Escarpment, creating the Great Gorge, a right-angle turn in the river’s path forced the rushing water into a deep counter-clockwise spin. Daily hiking tours and bicycle rentals are available seasonally at the centre, and visitors are invited to explore new educational displays including “Animals of the Glen”, nature and geology “touch tables” and interpretive panels on the flora, fauna and geology of the Niagara Glen. Parks Naturalists will also be available at the centre to answer any questions you may have about this precious jewel known as the Niagara Glen. Important Note — the Niagara Glen is a Nature Reserve that contains wild flora and fauna (plants and animals). Please observe all posted regulations, stay on trails that are marked and follow generally accepted trail etiquette. Fires are not permitted. Take only photos, leave only footprints!
