The Almaguin Highlands Information Centre (AHIC) has been serving the travelling public since 1990. AHIC provides 24/7 washroom facilities, tourist information, a shaded pavilion as a rest stop, carpool parking lot, and water bottle refill station. The Information Centre is also the site of the Perry Township Municipal Office. AHIC now boasts healthy snack and drink options, as well as an internet cafe, run by Northern Nerds.
The municipal office provides a visitor information service and center for maps to help plan cycling routes plus info on trails, geocaching and mineral collecting.
Public washroom facilities and water fountain are available.
Municipality Situated on the Eastern side of Haliburton County, the Municipality covers 758 square kilometres with over 70 lakes and is the amalgamation of the Townships of Bicroft, Cardiff, Glamorgan and Monmouth as of 2001. The hamlets of Cardiff, Highland Grove, Wilberforce, Tory Hill and Gooderham are our settlement areas. Highlands East has a permanent population of approximately 2,700 and a seasonal population of roughly 13,000 with a total of 4,300 households.
