Science North maintains the second- and eighth-largest science centres in Canada: Science North, and Dynamic Earth.
Science North is a hands-on, immersive science centre with a fun and enthusiastic approach to science education. The Bluecoats (real scientists and science communicators) help to make visits more enjoyable, and also ensure that visitor interactions with exhibits and live animal ambassadors are more informative. Science North also features an IMAX® theatre, digital Planetarium, butterfly gallery and Special Exhibits Hall.
Dynamic Earth is also a hands-on, immersive science centre, which offers earth sciences and mining experiences. It is home to the biggest coin in the world, the Big Nickel! This interactive experience — which includes an iconic guided underground mine tour, multimedia theatres and interesting exhibits — is fun for visitors of all ages and takes place in an interactive and educational environment.
In addition to the two science centres in Sudbury, Science North also oversees an award-winning Large Format Film production unit and an Exhibit Sales and Service unit, which develops custom and ready-made exhibits for sale or lease to science centres, museums, and other cultural institutions all over the world.
Science North, in partnership with Laurentian University, has developed North America’s first and only comprehensive Science Communication program, a 10-month joint graduate diploma program.
Science North also has a base in Thunder Bay, Ontario, providing science experiences to Northwestern Ontario schools and festivals, as well as summer science camps and more.
Nearby is the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area and Bell Park which features a groomed walkway and follows the shoreline of Ramsey Lake.
Science North maintains a bicycle shelter, located just 75 feet front the main entrance, and accommodates 18 bicycles with 36 inch spacing between the racks providing plenty of room. The shelter is closed on 3 sides with tempered glass walls and has an aluminum roof. Also located in the shelter is a manual foot pump along with a bicycle repair station equipped with the tools you need for any required repairs.
Science North is an agency of the Government of Ontario and a registered charity #10796 2979 RR0001. Dynamic Earth is a Science North attraction. IMAX® is registered trademark of IMAX Corporation.
