The meandering Bonnechere River once carried furs and pine logs out of this Ottawa Valley region. Now canoes move along its leisurely, ever-changing path to Round Lake where there is a buoyed, sandy beach. Trails pass an old beaver pond and marshes. An historic depot depicts the life of early forest rangers.
The only Visitor Information Centre located within steps of Highway 17 Trans-Canada Highway on Muskrat lake. The Cobden VIC is located in a park area, with Muskrat Lake view and access to the Main Street of the village of Cobden. This VIC offers picnic areas, beach access, overnight camping, clean bathrooms free WIFI and showers. Camping sites costs $10-$15 and gives you the combination to access the showers. Call Elmer at 613 570-8492. Some sites also offer hydro and water. The VIC is within short walking distance to many of the villages quaint specialty shops and unique dining experiences. This community thrives during peak tourism season as it serves as the gateway to the Whitewater Rafting companies. The Victoria Park Community Centre (VPCC) is considered the hub of recreation in the town of Ingersoll. It is centrally located and close to cycling paths, trails and roadways. For the cycling enthusiast, VPCC is air-conditioned for riders to cool down, offers day use of showers/changerooms, washrooms, and access to cycling maps/routes/area attractions and amenities. A water bottle station is on site to replenish and refill along with a bike lock up area. Friendly, knowledgeable staff are available to answer questions and offer support.
