The Walnut Grove Bed and Breakfast
The Walnut Grove B&B, a farmhouse built in 1902, is located about 5km’s north of Harrow in the heart of Essex County on a 10 acre treed property. Our ‘shtick’ is promoting local in all things we do and offer. A true ‘farm to table’ experience, we know the chickens who lay the eggs, make our own sausages from local ingredients, offer in- house made granola and have a large garden. Using only local coffee roasters and local soap makers to name a few. Leslie is a Sommelier and Chef who does the cooking while Bob acts as sous chef and jack of all trades.
Each of the three rooms have been thoughtfully and carefully renovated to provide a spa like setting for your visit. “Into The Woods” King size room with ensuite and sitting area is located on the 2nd floor. “The Dusty Sprocket” offers 2 twin extra long beds to accommodate friends or can be put together to create a king bed, also on the 2nd floor, with sitting area and en-suite. The largest suite, located on the main floor (called the Vineyard Suite), has a king bed, sitting area, en-suite with Jacuzzi tub. Mini-fridge and microwave in room as well. All rooms are lavishly outfitted with new mattresses, top end bedding, linens and bathrobes.
Our property offers several areas to enjoy the tranquil country setting. Listen to the peaceful waterfall sounds by the koi pond while sitting in the pergola, or take a stroll through the acres of woodland on site. Bird watch for our Baltimore Orioles, Bluebirds, Canaries and more , or perhaps enjoy the heated inground swimming pool and hot tub. We offer several add-ons to choose from such as our famous charcuterie boards, meadow dinners and stargazing. Yard games available as well.
The central location allows convenient access to great bird-watching areas like Point Pelee National Park, Holiday Beach Conservation Area, John R Park Conservation Area to name a few. Several Golf courses just a short drive away. Lots of Cycling opportunities await including the dedicated Chrysler Greenway trail less than 3km from the property. Essex county’s wine and spirit industry offers 14 wineries, craft breweries and distilleries just a short drive away.
Having recently attended a Rainbow Certification seminar, it is our goal to offer an inclusive setting to all guests regardless of their gender identity. All guests are treated equally and we expect our guests to act civilly to each other including any pets of guests. Improper behaviour to a fellow guest will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to remove or demand apology for any ill actions.
