Basic Rider Information
• Full ride details and information will be emailed to ride participants 2 weeks in advance of ride, plus repeated 1 week and 2 days in advance of ride.
• Ride participants must arrive with bicycles in good working order.
• It is recommended that all participants ride with helmet, appropriate footwear and appropriate clothing, for safety reasons.
• It is recommended that ride participants carry a personal cell phone should contact with event organizer and support be required.
• All ride participants will be required to complete a photo release form.
Transportation & Travel & Support Van
• All ride participants are responsible for getting to start location and being fully ready at appointed start times.
• On rides required, event coordinators will provide luggage transfer, in the support van. Event coordinators are not responsible for any damages whilst transporting luggage or bikes, should support van be required.
• Event coordinators are not responsible for any mechanical and bike repairs. Any rider requiring bike assistance beyond basic maintenance will be assisted with transportation provided by support vehicle to nearest bike store. Ride participant will be responsible for transportation expense back to group or return to start. Should bike be deemed unfit to ride, no ride/event refund will be provided.
• All participants will be provided with clear instructions and location information for all start and end stops and lunch stops. Event coordinators are not responsible for participants missing times, although an effort to assist will be provided where possible.
• Regular van support and assistance during ride will be available, however some flexibility and patience may be required should you need assistance.
Ride Conditions & Experience
• Ride participants are expected to abide by all rules of the road and trail etiquette.
• Ride participants are responsible to select ride that suits experience level. It is suggested that riders have are able to complete a daily distance of up to 65km. (Average trail speed approximately 15km / hour.)
• Ontario By Bike Rides incorporate both off-road/trail segments and on-road segments. Some experience riding on roads is needed, and dependent on ride route. All efforts will be made to incorporate bike lanes and safe road cycling, where possible.
• Youth riders, under 18 years, are permitted to participate on rides, but it is the responsibility of parents / care givers to provide supervision and ensure that they have the necessary experience and equipment to complete ride.
• Ride participants are expected to bring a bike that is suitable for surface conditions on routes. For rides on paved surfaces – road, gravel, hybrid or mountain bikes. For the rides on unpaved trails - gravel, hybrid or mountain bikes (road bikes can also be used if more sturdy, and wider tires.)
Food and Accommodations
• It is the ride participant's responsibility to inform Ontario By Bike of any dietary restrictions at time of booking.
• It is expected that all ride participants carry water and food energy, enough for refreshment between meal stops, and in case support vehicle stop and/or store is missed.
• Accommodations will be provided at stated location while still available. Ontario By Bike will provide alternate accommodations of similar standard and same pricing should they be required.
Health & Safety
• All riders need to take full responsibility for their own health, be in good health at time of ride and not taken any unnecessary health risks prior to ride.
• Should any rider have ongoing health risks, they agree not to participate unless medically able and have obtained physician’s approval.
• Rider Responsibility & Declaration: All riders need to take full responsibility for their own health, be in good health at time of ride and not taken any unnecessary health risks prior to ride.
• Ontario By Bike’s Responsibility & Declaration: Our ride support staff and volunteers will be in good health, at time of ride and not taken any unnecessary health risks prior to ride.
Waiver of Liability & Indemnity Agreement
At the start of each ride, all ride participants are required to review, understand and sign the Waiver of Liability & Indemnity Agreement as set by Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options. Thank you.
The “Ride” shall include but is not limited to, all activities, events or services in any way provided, organized, sponsored or authorized by the Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options. On my own behalf and on behalf of any minors or third parties for whom I am registering, I agree that: (1) we will abide by any decision of a Ride official concerning our ability to safely participate; (2) we will assume any and all risk associated with the Ride, including but not limited to falls, contact with other persons or objects, the effects of weather, traffic and course conditions; and (3) we hereby consent to permit and accept responsibility for emergency treatment in the event of injury or illness. I agree that Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options are (1) not responsible if I miss lunch, snack or pick up times, although I recognize that an effort to assist will be provided where possible and (2) not responsible for any mechanical and bike repairs. I agree that if I am requiring bike assistance beyond basic maintenance, I will be responsible for transportation expense back to group or return to start. Should bike be deemed non-functional, no event refund will be provided to me.
As a condition of participating on this tour, I for myself, any minors or any third party for whom I am acting waive and release Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options and any associated or related entities, their directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, sponsors, volunteers and organizers from present and future claims and all liabilities of any kind, known or unknown, arising out of our participation in the Ride or related activities, even though such claim or liability may arise out of the negligence or fault on the part of the Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options. We agree that: (1) Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options shall not be liable for any personal injury, death or property loss, and we release Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options and waive all claims with respect thereto; and (2) to hold harmless and indemnify Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options, from any and all liability for any property damage or personal injury to any third party resulting from my participation in the Ride.
I represent and warrant: (1) I am over eighteen (18) years of age, and that if I am registering a minor that I am the parent or guardian of such minor; (2) if I am registering third parties, I have been duly authorized to act on behalf of such parties; and (3) that the terms of this registration shall apply equally to me, any minor and to any third party for whom I am acting. The participation in the Tour by any third party shall be their confirmation that I was acting as their agent.
I have read this waiver of liability and indemnity agreement. I understand and accept its terms.
